The Langreo City Council has given initial approval to the Special Plan presented by Hunosa to modify the uses of the Fondón mine site in Sama. This modification will allow the €18 million investment (half of which comes from European funds) to go ahead for the installation of a green hydrogen plant on the site.

Following this initial approval, the document, agreed upon in recent months between Hunosa and the City Council’s technical services, must go through a series of public information procedures. Once these have been completed, it will return to the Langreo Plenary, which, if it approves it, will give the green light to the investment, known as the ‘Mine to H2’ project.

The idea is being led by Hunosa, together with Alsa, Hyren, the University of Oviedo, Duro Felguera and the Polish institute GIG-PIB.

The City Council of Langreo approves the document presented by Hunosa, which promotes an investment of 18 million euros backed by Europe for the area.
